Media has been one of the most important parts of society as it helps to disseminate news and information to people. But with every good side there has been the time where people use the same medium to do wrong and unlawful stuff and for those incidents to never happen or atleast to stop, regulation is very important. There are pros and cons of regulation

Pros:

1. It helps to stop unethical things that can cause chaos in people.

2. It helps to grow small media as it does not promote monopoly. 

3. It helps to control propaganda 

4. It also controls the nature of advertisement

5. Controlling undesirable content

Cons

1. There will be no freedom of speech and expression

2. Too many influences which can stop the broadcast and the print of real news and fabricate the news.

3. Its can lead people to wrongful direction by spreading false information

4. Violates right of people for openly seeing information

5. Controlled media scenarios are very possible.

Many society oriented news should be more lean towards ethics as it is our duty to show the real pictures to the public. Law are moreover forceful binding of rules which are meant to control certain things but ethic is something more subjective. The be distinct about law and ethics, laws for media are made to maintain the boundaries where as the ethics are more individuals and it helps to decide whatbis roght ad what is wrong. Laws are controlled by institutions like government where as the ethic is more subjective and individuals so only he/she can control it. If we break media law then it leads to punishment but in ethics there are no set of rules. 

To conclude, media and ethic are not similar but not that different too as they both show how to act in particular manner and every individual holds same place in law and ethics.
